The SACC Office is taking pre-orders of the beautiful Skowhegan Indian Statues from now until March 21 (the Awards Dinner night) and will only be keeping the introductory price until then. These hand-whittled statues by Sharon Kimball are outstanding and the perfect gift. The introductory pricing is as follows:
The 4.5 inch ornament-sized full body statute is $5.00
The 11 inch medium sized statute is $18.00
The 17 inch large size statute $45.00
On a complete separate note, the SACC is starting to look for your stories and memories about the Indian. Ultimately, if the board deems it suitable, we will be creating a book of stories/memories that individuals will be able to submit writings to, to become a part of the book. The book sales would go toward the Indian Maintenance. However, if the board does not think this is the best way to go, we would like to collect your Indian stories and distribute them to people who come in the office this summer (in an alternate form perhaps or on our Website). So start thinking about your story of the Indian. If you want to share it with us, e-mail it or drop it by. As of right now, there is not a deadline for this work, but there will be. Start thinking it over and let us know. You don't need to be an accomplished writer, this is open to everyone, just as long as you have a fun and unique story.
Finally, with this book idea, or just marketing ideas, the SACC is looking for photos of the Indian throughout the years. If you have a photo to share we would love to see it. Katie Ouilette has the definitive historical binder of newspaper clippings about the arrival of the Indian, but more photos are welcomed and encouraged. We would give you a photo credit on any picture you wanted to submit. Unfortunately our budget is not in place where we can afford to buy photographs. Thanks for any help, and either drop them in the mail or we can take them by e-mail too.
