[ARCHIVED] Maine Water - Do Not Drink the Water Notice

Maine Water Company is notifying customers in Skowhegan to not drink the water until further notice. Earlier today, an unusual soap like odor was detected in the water distribution system.  We are working with Maine drinking water officials as we investigate its origin.
As a precaution, customers should not use water for preparing food, brushing teeth, making ice cubes or use the water for any other purpose where the water is consumed until the source of the odor can be identified and corrected. It is okay to the use the water for bathing, washing hands, laundry and other normal uses where it is not consumed.
The water sources that normally supply the system have been disconnected during the investigation.  Our Crews are working to switch to an alternate source of water while we resolve the problem. This process will take some time and the company will provide periodic updates on Friday through electronic notifications, the company website and public announcements.
If you have questions please call our customer service team at 800-287-1643.
