The Friends of the Library is an organization whose purpose is to support, aid, assist and render useful service to the Skowhegan Free Public Library in developing library services and facilities for the community and to raise funds for such purposes.
One way we raise money is by selling lunches to businesses, schools, and town offices. "Library Lunches" has been an on going project for us for many years. Early in April we deliver menus and order forms to area businesses. A week later we collect the orders and begin the task of buying the ingredients for the lunches. Then, with the help of our wonderful Friends, we gather to make the sandwiches and organize the lunches. The brown bags are delivered at the time of each businesses' choice...fresh, delicious, and ready to eat. Each lunch contains a sandwich, chips, an apple, soda, and a homemade dessert. This year the delivery date is Friday, April 18.
We are grateful that stores such as Hannaford, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, and Shaw's donate gift cards to help us offset the cost of the lunch ingredients.
And our special thanks go to Mark and Deb Tanner who donate the use of Tewksbury Hall where we prepare the lunches for delivery. Your generosity has lightened the entire process.
Profit goes directly to the Skowhegan Free Public Library.
