  3. Bldg Downtown Networks that Foster Entrepreneurship & Innovation

    The Maine Community Foundation and Maine Downtown Center have invited the National Main Street Center to present this workshop. Participants will leave the day with: an understanding of the process to develop entrepreneurial ecosystems, having identified assets and partners, and will look at their role in entrepreneurship as it relates to overall downtown and community economic development and transformation.   6. Coping with the Holidays - Session 2

    Offered by: Hospice Volunteers of Somerset County “Let my heart find peace and may the peace flow into my world” The holidays are fast approaching, and if you are grieving any type of loss, it can be an especially difficult time of year. We are offering our second support group session designed to discuss grief and to offer coping strategies for the holiday season. The support group is open to the public and free of charge. Would you consider joining us if this is something that we could help you with? If so this will be held at the Hospice Volunteers of Somerset County office, located at 113 Dr. Mann Road in Skowhegan.   8. Full Moon Hike

    December 12, 2019, 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. @ Coburn Woods Trail

    We’ll meet at the trailhead on the Russell Road for a hike in the dark! We’ll guide you through Coburn Woods trails using headlamps and flashlights to illuminate the way. The Total walk will be about 3 miles with slight elevation gain. We’ll hike out to Taylor Field and back to view the stars during the full moon. Be sure to bring water, sturdy shoes, warm clothing, and a headlamp or flashlight. This is great for all ages and well behaved dogs are welcome. If we have snow, bring your snowshoes, or let us know if you need to borrow a pair.

    Come and view an amazing collection of Nativity sets, Angels and Lights! Some are fancy, others simple, some miniature, others life size, and many from around the world! You can vote on your favorite - and there will also be a Scavenger Hunt for kids!!! You will also be able to enjoy hot cocoa, coffee, tea, milk and cookies - along with entertainment scheduled for each evening. Be sure to come to the special "Light the Night" fundraiser on Saturday as we bring light to the darkness of Cancer. You won't want to miss it! (This is a free event!!!)

Through meditation, observation, discussion and Ray’s humorous stories, come to understand the source of our troubles and why we act as we do. Time is spent in quiet contemplation as well as in active pursuits. You will leave this experience with a new found stillness of mind, appreciation for the earth, and clarity of purpose. You are invited to stay for lunch, please bring a potluck dish to share! Donations are accepted in any amount, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

  28. Headlamp Hike

    Join us for a hike at the Yankee Woodlot. This is a great hike for beginners who want to come out for a nice walk in the woods. We’ll use headlamps and flashlights to illuminate the way. The total hike will be about 1 mile with little elevation gain. This is a great way to begin your weekend and a great activity for all ages and abilities. Well behaved dogs are welcome, remember to bring poop bags. If we have snow by this time bring your snowshoes, or let us know if you need to borrow a pair.
